VieraViera are humanoids with rabbit-like features, such as their long, upright rabbit ears and supple limbs. These features greatly improve their sense of hearing and the height at which they can jump. The average viera has a dark skin tone, ranging from olive to a deep brown, though there are the rare snow white complexions. Their hair ranges from the popular silver or white color to the less common brown or black.
Average Lifespan: 60 - 70 years Herbivores: unable to properly digest meat
Favorite Treat: Wild Flower Pregnancy:
Vieras are known for being skilled strategists, armed with wit and a sharpened sense of hearing that helps them stay one step ahead. Unfortunately, most other humanoids have oversexualized the species, pushing many into entertainment professions, specifically dance. Vieras are also widely known as great herbalists, gardeners and botanists. They are a proud species willing to go great lengths to protect their homeland, rarely showing interests in geographical exploration.

Horus (Darker shades on the map indicate higher population counts)
Viera make up 1.18% of the humanoid population on Askeron History
Vieras originate from the western half of Horus, once known as the territory Vaiden, before it was properly claimed and admitted under the laws of the Horus Kingdom. The area now referred to as the town of Burrowmill is where the viera population was most abundant. This remains true today, though the space has now been colonized by humans. Burrowmill is where you might find the most traditional of viera. Vieras have since expanded across Horus, where many have become influenced by human societies. Populations of viera can be found in various countries across Askeron but their numbers have not quite flourished anywhere outside of Horus. This may have something to do with the ratio of male to female vieras, making it difficult for them to build a substantial foundation anywhere else. Their isolated culture as well as a general fear or disinterest in the world outside of their home may also contribute to this fact. Vieras who choose to leave their homeland are considered to be taking a big risk that could potentially lead to the suffering and extinction of their people.

Culture
Relationships
The most culturally significant feature of the traditional viera community is their views of sexual exploration. Culturally, before being influenced by humans, vieras never really supported any concept of monogamy but instead functioned mainly with polyamory relationships. Marriage or any type of joint relationship was out of the question. No one individual belonged to any other. The males and females generally shared intimate and romantic relationships with whoever and however many individuals they wanted. Sexuality was also never in question. Many viera are free of sexual jealousy and possessiveness, viewing sex as a very casual act that ultimately doesn't mean much.
Today many viera still believe in polyamory relationships and are baffled by terms such as “significant other” and “marriage” and “cheating” but there are a few now that have been influenced by other species and have taken up the idea of monogamy as their own, falling into the social constructs of others.

Family
With this as their standard vieras really don't have a concept or a name for "family" that involves males. Generally, for births and pregnancies, there is no obligation or pressure put on the male (or "father") to be present. Many fathers may bring food to the new mother for several months, supplying her and the child's needs, but this is never expected. Considering it is sometimes difficult to identify who the father is it is not unusual for multiple males to supply the mother with food. This act, no matter the circumstance, is strictly on a volunteer basis. Female vieras rarely ask for food offerings. In traditional viera families there is no real "father" role beyond the supplying of food for the first several months. This is not viewed negatively, the term "father" being something of little comprehension. Understanding why a "father" role could be useful or significant can be puzzling for many viera. Most viera families consists of only females, as all males by the age of 16 separate themselves and serve no purpose to a household. It is also not unusual for males to cut ties with their mother or siblings, never to be heard by them again.
The Parting
Male vieras are often described as solitary, with a preference for quiet spaces. Based on the (possibly false) idea that adult, male viera are natural aggressors and bring conflict in otherwise harmonious household settings, the viera society believes it better to separate from them in terms such as "family." Female and male vieras living together is oddly frowned upon, believing that a male's territorial attitude might take away from a female's sense of comfort and space. In other words, viera believe that a male permanently residing with a female could inhibit her in some way.
Thinking it better for both parties, male viera at the age of 16 are released from their household responsibilities and given an opportunity to establish their own, solitary space. It is rare for a male over the age of 16 to still live with his mother and it is deeply frowned upon by traditional viera families. This separation is occasionally ceremonial, referred to as The Parting. A young male viera turning 16 may be presented with useful gifts such as food, a pet or wood to build a house. Male vieras seem to prefer this and look forward to The Parting. They live most commonly alone and on the outskirts of towns and cities, rather than within them. There are, of course, always exceptions, especially with so many vieras abandoning their traditional ideals.
Sisterhood
Since sexual relationships do not necessarily involve a close bond, the strongest and most intimate relationships witnessed in the viera community are those referred to as a sisterhood. This is possibly the closest definition of family the vieras have. It consists of three or four generations of female viera relatives, all of which reside together. While it is encouraged that males separate and live on their own, it is also encouraged that related females remain together. Sisterhoods, which involve a mother, possibly her mother and sisters, her female children, and possibly their children, are of the highest standard. It's also not uncommon for sisterhoods to be split among two or more households, if they grow to be so large, though they still tend to live in close proximity. A female viera with a very small or no sisterhood is a sign of a pitiful misfit, living an unorthodox life.
Again, these ideals have shifted in recent years, with more and more female viera living on their own or in pairs, remaining exceptions to the traditional communities. This is often a sign of rebellion and a disturbing influence humans have had on young viera.
Gestures
Bowing is a common way of greeting those in higher power but a more casual gesture made by vieras is the three finger salute. This simply involves holding up your three middle fingers. Some vieras will squint their eyes a little as they do it to show more affection in their greeting.
Celebrations
Vieras celebrate what they call The Flower Festival once a year. It is the day where flower gardens are showcased, sometimes in local contests judging color, beauty and taste of the flowers represented in the garden. Bouquets are handed out to friends and families as a sign of thanks for their role in the individual's life. There is usually dancing and lots of flower consumption.
Presenting another with a purple rose is the deepest sign of gratitude and love. It is occasionally customary for the recipient of a purple rose to answer one "truth" question, a question in which they must (by mere expectation) answer honestly. Other recipients may simply offer to do a favor. More recently, some viera interpret the purple rose as a sexual request, by which most find it rude to deny.
Education
Viera-only schools start at age 5 and lasts until age 16. Horus is the only kingdom by which an all viera school exists, though it is not actually all that different from human or public schools, aside from the elective program offered to teach replication magic to those capable of it.
Vieras who attend public schools must attend until age 18. Many male vieras drop out of human or public schools by 16, never truly graduating, but plenty of females stay until the rightful graduation of 18.
Homeschooling is very popular among vieras, as mothers take great pride in caring for their young in all aspects of their life until the age of 16.

Viera Half Breeds
Viara
(Human/Viera) Viara is a subtype species that has been formed due to the common merging of humans and viera. Viara is what is called a human, viera cross. Their ears tend to droop down in what is referred to as lop-eared, which is a characteristic uncommon in pure vieras. Viaras may, or may not, show hair colors that are uncommon for vieras but common in humans, such as blonde or red. Some viara may show no sign of their mixed breed, appearing completely human or completely viera, and while this is rare it is possible. In this regard they may choose to avoid any relation to the term 'viara.' Viaras are strictly frowned upon by traditional viera families and some discriminatory humans. |
Vetaur
(Centaur/Viera)
Vetaurs are a subtype species that has been formed due to the growing population of centaur in Horus. A vetaur is a centaur, viera cross. With the body of a centaur and upright (or lop-eared) rabbit ears, they easily standout. Others may appear with the body of a viera with a long horse-like tail or hooves instead of their usual feet. Vetaurs may, or may not, show hair colors that are uncommon for vieras but common in centaurs, such as blonde or red.
Vetaurs are strictly frowned upon by traditional viera and centaur families alike.

Replication
8% of vieras are replicators. 92% of vieras have no magic ability whatsoever.
8% of vieras are replicators. 92% of vieras have no magic ability whatsoever.
Replication is an innate magic ability only seen in vieras who are born with it. Uncovering this ability, discovering if you possess the potential to wield magic, can be difficult. Some viera don't discover their capabilities until later in life, others never do.
Viaras, vetaurs or any mixed breed of viera are even more unlikely to possess this ability.
Viaras, vetaurs or any mixed breed of viera are even more unlikely to possess this ability.
There are multiple versions of this ability and a single individual is only granted access to one specific version.
1. Object Replication
Of the 8% of replicators, 50% of them are a object replicators (4% of all vieras).
2. Biolocation
Of the 8% of replicators, 20% of them are a biolocation replicators (1.5% of all vieras).
3. Copying
Of the 8% of replicators, 30% of them are a copying replicators (2.5% of all vieras).
1. Object Replication
Of the 8% of replicators, 50% of them are a object replicators (4% of all vieras).
- The ability to replicate an object by only its appearance, not including any unnatural abilities the object may possess (this means magically enhanced objects).
- The user can only replicate an object a certain number of times, dependent on the user's skill level.
- Intricate and complex objects are harder to replicate, as opposed to simple shapes.
- Objects must be solid and nonliving.
- Larger objects are harder to replicate.
- The user cannot replicate a replica. By this account they are able to tell if an object is a replica.
2. Biolocation
Of the 8% of replicators, 20% of them are a biolocation replicators (1.5% of all vieras).
- The ability to replicate one's own body. This replica of the self will wander autonomously until it is recalled. The replica acts as a machine and does not think for itself or have any governing thoughts or feelings.
- The replica can only wander a certain distance from its user, dependent on the user's skill level.
- The user has a sensory rapport with the replica, being able to get a glimpse of what the replica can see or hear from its location.
- The user can control the movements of a replica through serious concentration, something that takes time to master.
- The most skilled biolocation replicators can make their replicas speak on command. This is done telepathically and requires the words to come from both the user and the replica, meaning the two speak in unison. Most users are not cable of such a thing and their replicas remain mute.
- Biolocation replicators can only create one replica of the self at a time.
- Replicas may be recalled at any time. A recalled replica will simply vanish.
- If a replica of the self comes in contact with any solid object other than the ground it will be instantly recalled. This leads to the replica rule: Do Not Touch Anything (or anyone).
3. Copying
Of the 8% of replicators, 30% of them are a copying replicators (2.5% of all vieras).
- The ability to replicate one's own body numerous times with each replica instructed under one simple action. This means that every replica created is given a very specific action and is incapable of performing anything but that action. The replica acts as a machine and does not think for itself or have any governing thoughts or feelings.
- These actions must be simple and are repeated until the replica is recalled.
- The user has no sensory or telepathic rapport with the replicas.
- The number of replicas a copier can create is dependent on the user's skill level.
- Replicas may be recalled at any time. A recalled replica will simply vanish.
- If a replica of the self comes in contact with any solid object other than what they were intended to act on it will be instantly recalled. This leads to the replica rule: Do Not Touch Anything (or anyone).
