The Pioneer
The very first airship ever built to travel long distances, across open seas. The Pioneer was designed and crafted in the city of Arcadia, in Bressel, headed by the Prime Minister Cid himself, fully government funded/regulated. It's name said all you needed to know. The Pioneer was only ever meant to be a transportation vessel. It required two pilots and could carry 12 passengers. It is the slowest moving of all of the functional airships ever built, it's top speed reaching 25mph. It is also extremely difficult to turn. The Bressel Government still holds ownership of The Pioneer. It is used by government officials for transportation. |
The Dryad
The Dryad was a project put together by the Bressel Government to create a smaller, more agile airship than The Pioneer. They named it The Dryad in homage to their Sylvari neighbors. While this airship was 2/3rds the size of it's predecessor, it's handling abilities were much sharper and it was actually able to carry a full crew/passengers of 20 people, along with its 2 pilots. It's top speed reaches 30 mph. The Dryad lived up to be everything its engineers dreamed for it. Eventually, the airship was gifted to Bressel's ally Kingdom, home of the Sylvari that the ship is named after, The Kingdom of Hideaway. The Hideaway Government still holds ownership of The Dryad to this day. It is used by government officials for transportation. |
The Scavenger
The Scavenger was built by a privately owned company in Arcadia, Bressel called Aries. Aries built this particular airship for a wealthy client in The Kingdom of Minerus. Once the ship was complete, there was a disagreement on the previously agreed upon price and Aries backed out of the deal. They then sold The Scavenger to a high bidder in The Kingdom of Ordana. The Scavenger, unlike the far traveling airships before it, was designed in favor of maneuverability, being able to fly low and tolerate sand dust or other uncontrollable forces. This was also the first airship that only needed one pilot behind the wheel. It can carry up to 20 passengers. It can reach speeds up to 45mph, leaving its predecessors behind in smoke. Nowadays The Scavenger is considered a high value vintage airship, one of few older models that can somewhat keep up with the newer airships. While it can be a rickety ride at times, The Scavenger is admired for its long lasting functionality. The Scavenger was supposedly sold around to various owners but it still resides in The Kingdom of Ordana. The exact, current ownership is unknown. |
The Duplet
The Duplet was designed by a woman in Fuwei, and it was built by a new airship company in Nubela called Barnes. Like The Scavenger, there was a strong focus on maneuverability, though its primary purpose was its ability to transition from an airship to a boat, and vice versa. The Duplet was the first of its kind to travel by air or sea. Unfortunately, it was the first and last airship ever built by Barnes, as afterwards they became solely a manufacturer of boats. The Duplet has one pilot, up to 30 passengers, and reaches speeds of 40mph. It has an extremely smooth ride and its handling is superb. It even has a bank angle of 50 degrees. The Duplet had multiple owners throughout its lifetime, but it eventually was bought by its original designer in Fuwei. She then sold it to the Fuwei Government, it's current owner. |
The Outlook
The government in Bressel sent a request to Aries, a private airship manufacturer, and the results? The Outlook. This sleek designed airship had it all. It became the largest airship of its time, carrying up to 50 passengers with one sole pilot. It reached averaged speeds up to 35mph but it was prized for its stability. The "wings" of The Outlook offer the ship smooth balance and prevents rolling while maintaining speed during turns. Its bank angle is only a minimal 10 degrees, with only the wings angling, the ship unchanged. It also reaches altitudes higher than any of its predecessors (and compared to many of those that followed). Like the Duplet, the Outlook could transition between air and sea seamlessly. Satisfied with the results, The Outlook replaced The Dryad, and served as the kingdom's prize possession. Of course, it was eventually sold to the royalty of Du Finno. The Du Finno Government still holds ownership of The Outlook to this day. It is primarily used as a transportation service between Emprise, Du Finno and Baridia, Primordia. |
Silver Grace
The Silver Grace was one in a series of three airships made by Aries that were designed to be smaller, more agile versions of The Outlook. The series was called Onlookers. The Silver Grace was the first in the series and it out shined its predecessor with increased speed, acceleration and handling on par with that of the Duplet. Just like the Outlook, Silver Grace could transition from air to sea while upholding all of the same functions. The Silver Grace was the very first airship who's engine was practically silent. It was so quiet and had such a liquid smooth ride, people didn't think it could get any better, but it was only the beginning of the Onlookers series and Aries had a lot more in store. The Silver Grace was auctioned off in Bressel and has had several owners throughout the years. It's current location and owner are unknown. |
Navy Vestige
The Navy Vestige was the second in a series of three made by Aries that were designed to be smaller, more agile versions of The Outlook. The series was called Onlookers. Navy Vestige was unveiled with a bang. It mimicked Silver Grace, but with better acceleration, a slightly smaller fuel tank, and a higher bank angle that made this airship's maneuverability slick and quick. The ship was overall more slender than Silver Grace and looked like a mini-me to The Outlook with matching wings and body. It's a slippery ride but it flows so naturally in the air it might as well be a bird. It easily transitioned from air to sea and had the same silent engine that Silver Grace possessed. The Navy Vestige was auctioned off in Bressel and has had several owners throughout the years. It's current location and owners are unknown. |
Crimson Air
The Crimson Air was the third in a series of three made by Aries that were designed to be smaller, more agile versions of The Outlook. The series was called Onlookers. The Crimson Air had increased handling and durability next to its counterparts and a wild, flashy appearance that caught everyone's attention. Unfortunately, the engine noise was more noticeable than the other Onlookers, due to it having to be a more sturdy build. It was made to withstand damage while also maintaining its smooth drive. It was the first airship to hint at warfare, though maybe not explicitly. The Crimson AIr was auctioned off in Bressel and has had several owners throughout the years. It's current location and owners are unknown. |
